The Kingdom of God (YHVH) is here!
"So don't be anxious, asking, 'What will we eat?,' 'What will we drink?'
or 'How will we be clothed?' For it is the pagans who set their hearts on all these things.
Your heavenly Father knows you need them all. But seek first His Kingdom and His
righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. [Mattityahu/Matthew 6:31-33]

We have been studying the Kingdom of God through the parables of Yeshua. We started with the parable of the sower, who scattered seed which fell in different places. Only the seed that fell on fertile soil grew. This parable is about the importance of understanding the message of the Kingdom. This was Yeshua's primary message throughout His ministry, more than salvation or His divinity. Understanding His message, which in Jewish teaching implies putting into action what is learned, is important to become the citizen of His Kingdom we are meant to be. The parable of the sower is an introduction to the rest of the parables. The first real parable is the wheat and the tares (weeds). The wheat represents the people who belong to the Kingdom, and the weeds are those who belong to the Adversary, but are still in the Kingdom. We see that there is sin in the Kingdom, but at the end of time, God's angels will remove that sin and the weeds that live by it from His Kingdom. Judgement is God's and it is not up to us to remove the tares, only to make sure we are not of them. Sandwiched in this parable are two others, the mustard seed and yeast. The mustard seed represents the Believer who may be small in the world, but through faith is made big by God. The mustard seed does not refer to the size of the faith, but the Believer. We can do all things in God's power, and faith is not a question of size or amount. As the Believer learns to trust in God, then the Believer who is small is given the ability to become great, not only in the Kingdom, but the world as well. The mustard seed corresponds to the wheat, so the yeast corresponds to the weeds. The yeast, however, is not the person, but the sin of the person. The woman making the bread is the Adversary, who plants his yeast, which at the time seems insignificant, but expands to become a great sin in a person or the whole community. At this point, it can be difficult, if not impossible to know where the sin came from. We do not remove the weeds from our midst, rather we continue to love them with God's unconditional love, however we need to be careful not to allow sin to infiltrate our lives and ultimately destroy that which God is building. Next week, we will be studying the treasure in a field and a pearl of great price.

We talked about inheritance and how it relates to the Kingdom of God. The land of Israel belongs to God, but He gave it as an inheritance to His people. This was grace. Israel did nothing to deserve the Land, in fact it was because of God's promise to Avraham and the wickedness of the people in the Land already. The Kingdom of God is the same for us today. It belongs to God, but offers it as an inheritance to all those who would receive it through faith in Messiah Yeshua. Despite what many think, Yeshua taught primarily on the Kingdom, not salvation, eternal life, or His own divinity. We too are sent out to preach the Kingdom, not the "Gospel". When we begin to focus on the right message, God will be able to better work through that message to draw people to Himself in ways we never thought possible.
