Summary of Vayishlach:

Ya’akov sees his brother Esav coming with 400 men and becomes afraid. He send all his family, servants, possessions, and livestock across the Yarden, until he was alone. That night he wrestled with a “man” all night. Ya’akov had his name changed to Isra’el, and the “man” ended up being God Himself. After this, he meets with his brother who forgives him and there is reconciliation between the brothers. Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Ya’akov is raped by Sh’khem, who desires to marry her. This would form an alliance between the Hittites and Isra’el. As part of an assumed alliance, the men of Hamor, Sh’khem’s father, were circumcised. On the third day, when the men were still in pain, Levi and Shim’on attacked them and defeated them. Ya’akov became angry as this would create enemies with the local inhabitants. Shortly after this, Binyamin was born and Rachel died. A genealogy of ‘Esav is given to close out the parashah.
