Summary of Vayigash:

Y'hudah/Judah comes to Yosef/Joseph to try to get him to release their brother Binyamin/Benjamin on account of their father. In seeing the brother's remorse for their brother, Yosef can no longer control his feelings and reveals his identity to them. He told them that it was all God's plan in order to save a great many lives. He tell them to go home and tell their father that he is alive and to come back to live in Goshen where Yosef can take care of them. Even Pharaoh's household is pleased when they hear the news.

After the brothers return home and tell their father Ya'akov/Jacob the news, he immediately gathers the household, 70 people total, along with possessions to go to Egypt and see Yosef before he dies. They arrive and are told to tell the Egyptians they are shepherds to assure being given the land of Goshen to live.

The famine is so severe that the people end up selling all they have to Yosef, who devises a plan (which looks a lot like socialism) to get the people through the famine. Isra'el lived in Goshen for 17 years and prospered there.
