~changing lives with faith, hope, and love~
The Hope Chest Educational Program
A significant aspect of the ministry to pregnant teens will be a 6 month long series of classes that will teach cooking skills, sewing skills, domestic skills, parenting skills, and job skills. There will also be spiritual development classes offered as well. Class attendance will be required, but will work around busy schedules and other issues within reason. A specified number of spiritual development classes will be required as well withing the six month period.
If all requirements are met satisfactorily, then the new mom will receive a "hope chest" with appliances, clothes, cooking utensils, and other items needed to start their new home, come time they are able to do that. These items will be donated by local businesses who want to be a part of helping these girls with a better future.
There will also be opportunities to earn ministry dollars that can be used in a ministry store to buy additional clothes and supplies. Part of this will involve working a specified number of hours in the bakery, which will provide baked goods for sale to the community. It is our hope that this provides inspiration to go above and beyond requirements to better prepare the new moms for their future.
