Bun in the Oven Bakery will be a multifunctional outreach and training
center serving the local Spokane, Washington area. We will be focusing on
unwed teen mothers to teach them cooking skills, child care skills, job skills,
and spiritual development.
Faith - Nothing of value happens outside of relationship, whether it is
with God or people. Faith is more than intellectual belief, but belief which
results in action which honors God and those around us. The bakery will be
a place to learn life principles which are taught throughout the Bible.
Hope - True hope is based on knowledge of success based on clear
goals and well thought out plans to achieve those goals. Each mom in our
program will be given tools and instruction designed to help her work
toward a life style which is healthy and beneficial for herself and the family she is starting.
Love - Just as a little yeast fills a dough and causes it to grow, we will be putting God's love in the hearts of the
young women in our program which will spread to every area of their lives. This love will then grow and make them a
person better able to handle the difficulties that face a single mom in our culture.
Baked goods will be made in a kosher kitchen and sold to the public. Proceeds from these sales will go toward
helping the moms in our program receive a hope chest when they leave the ministry to assist in their success and care of
their newborn.
For some young moms, foster care will be provided through the State of Washington and Life Services of Spokane. A
structured daily schedule will teach them personal responsibility, teamwork, respect of authority, time management,
and other skills needed for real world living.
All life principles taught in this program will come from the Bible, to include both
Old and New Testament concepts. Our focus is not conversion to any particular faith,
but some kind of relationship with the God of the Bible will be encouraged as a
foundation to the principles we will be teaching. Such principles, when exercised
properly, have been proven to lead to success since the time of King Solomon and
earlier.
This is all just the beginning. We are still in the planning stages, so there will be
more to come as resources and ideas develop.
We need your support!
First, and most importantly, we need your prayers. Second, we need your
financial support. For those who become part of our support team, I will send a
monthly newsletter that will give updates on the ministry, prayer requests, success stories, a Torah teaching from one of
our Friday night meetings, and more. E-mail me at kevin@kingdomstar.com to learn more about this exciting opportunity
to sow seeds in God's Kingdom.
